Ruth & Andy

In Bruges

We're getting married!

Our Story

Ruth and Andy’s love story quite literally took off mid-flight. She was the stewardess, he was the passenger, and somewhere between takeoff and landing, fate intervened. It’s only fitting that their love story comes full circle in Bruges, Belgium - a city that holds a special place in their hearts.

Bruges is where Andy got down on one knee on a charming stone bridge, with the city’s twinkling lights reflecting in the canal below. In December, Bruges transforms into a winter wonderland, with cobblestone streets glowing under festive lights, horse-drawn carriages weaving through the medieval city, and the scent of Belgian waffles filling the air. The historic Markt square comes alive with its famous Christmas market, while the serene canals reflect the beauty of this storybook setting.

Their journey to "I do" begins in an exquisite church beside the canal, inspired by the awe-inspiring beauty of Bruges’ famous landmarks like the Basilica of the Holy Blood and the Church of Our Lady, home to Michelangelo’s stunning Madonna and Child. After the ceremony, the celebration continues at the breathtaking Castle Van Moerkerke, a hidden gem steeped in history, where their family and friends will gather to toast to a lifetime of love.

From a mid-flight meeting to a fairy-tale wedding in the heart of Belgium, Ruth and Andy’s story proves that sometimes, love takes you exactly where you’re meant to be. ✨

Q & A

For all our friends and family who have lots of questions, please check out our Q & A first!

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by June 30th so we can have an accurate headcount and organise transport from the church to the castle.

Is there a gifts registry?

Your presence at our wedding truly means the world to us, and that's the greatest gift we could ask for.

As we currently live in a very full one-bedroom apartment in Dublin (think Tetris, but with furniture), we simply don’t have the space for physical gifts. If you’d like to mark the occasion with a gift, a contribution towards our future together would be warmly appreciated.

Can we bring our children to the wedding?
We love your little ones! However, due to limited space at our venue, we are only able to accommodate the children who are specifically named on the invitation. We hope you understand and can enjoy a night off to celebrate with us!

How do I get from Bruges city to the Castle

The castle is 10 mins away so we will arrange a bus from the church to the castle

after the ceremony.  We will also have shuttles running later that night and Uber is the taxi app used in Bruges

Whom should I call with questions?

Please contact Ruth or Andrew directly with any question prior to the wedding day.

Can I stay in the Castle?

The castle does not offer rooms but we recommend staying in Bruges city.

It has plenty of accommodation options and it is a must see city.

Whats on the menu?

Kastelle Van Moerkerke

As we celebrate our wedding on Thursday, November 27th, we thought, “Why not make it extra special?”

Since the date coincides with Thanksgiving, we’ve decided to feature turkey as our main course. But don’t worry - this isn’t your average turkey!

Kasteel van Moerkerke will serve a beautifully curated menu inspired by the rich flavors of the season. Featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients - many from the castle’s own garden - the dishes will celebrate autumn’s harvest with warmth, elegance, and a touch of festive flair, making their day even more memorable.

Chef Mattias and his team work closely with local farmers and suppliers to create a menu that reflects the best of what each season has to offer. Whether you're pescatarian, vegetarian, or vegan, the restaurant will gladly adapt to your needs - no one will be left out. We can’t wait to share this delicious celebration with you!

-BREAKFAST PLACES-

Thats Toast

That's Toast! offers an all-day breakfast and toast bar experience. Renowned for its hearty and sweet toasts, grains, fruits, and full breakfast plates, it's a favorite among both locals and visitors. The establishment also serves great barista-quality coffees and freshly made cold-pressed juices.

Juliette

Juliette is a charming breakfast and brunch café known for its cozy ambiance. The menu features Belgian classics like waffles, croissants, and eggs, with vegan options available.

-BEST WAFFLES-

Chez Albert

Chez Albert is our top choice and is Bruges’ go-to spot for warm, golden Liège waffles—crispy on the outside, soft inside, and studded with caramelized sugar. Just steps from the Markt, it’s perfect for a sweet stroll snack. Top yours with Belgian chocolate, strawberries, or whipped cream, and thank us later!

House Of Waffles

House of Waffles in Bruges serves up both sweet and savory waffles in a cozy spot just off the Markt. Choose between light Brussels or rich Liège waffles with toppings ranging from strawberries to smoked salmon.

Chez Albert is the better sweet waffle but offers no seating unlike House Of Waffles
